Munir khan,“doctor with the miracle cure” who has dodged the police for over two months,is likely to be arrested on February 22 with a sessions court today rejecting his appeal for anticipatory bail in a cheating case.

Khan’s son Mushir, who too had appealed, was granted anticipatory bail. He contended that he had no idea about his father’s “inventions”.

An elaborate copy of the court order with reasons for rejecting Khan’s plea will be available only by February 22,until when he will be safe from arrest.

The Versova police had filed the case after several people complained they had bought Khan’s so-called “wonder drug” and then found that they had been duped.

In his application,Khan claimed he is a “scientist” and has invented several drugs. Among these was “Body Revival”,which he sold at Rs 15,000 as a cure for diseases such as AIDS and cancer.

The prosecution argued that none of these drugs is recognised by any authorised medical institution.

Khan had his “cure” promoted by many film and TV artistes, among them veteran actor Tabassum, who featured in his ads, later complained against Khan and then approached the sessions court alleging that father and son had threatened her and told her to withdraw the complaints.
