A domestic flight from Mumbai to Chennai was routed back to the city Sunday morning after the health of a six-month-old baby boy,suffering from a cardiac ailment,deteriorated. The baby died mid-flight.
Airport police have registered a case of accidental death.
The infant,Mubid Fareed Ramzan,was flying with his parents on an Indigo flight to Chennai for treatment. His condition worsened after the flight took off at 10.32 am. When the baby showed no response,the flight routed back to Mumbai where it landed at 11.41 am.
An airport authority official said the baby died 45 minutes before the flight landed.

Sub inspector Sailesh Jogdand said,The family has not alleged any negligence against the flight crew or airline and hence we have only recorded an accidental death. The infants body has been sent to Cooper hospital for a post mortem and we are waiting for the report.
