Extradited gangster Om Prakash alias Babloo Srivastava was produced in a TADA court on Monday in connection with a pending case against him for kidnapping a builder,Vishwanath Mittal,in 1994.
Srivastava,a dreaded gangster who wrecked havoc in several northern states and Mumbai in the late 1980s and 1990s by carrying out rampant kidnappings and with his extortion calls,was brought to the city amidst high security.
According to the prosecution,Srivastava,a hardened criminal,operated along with a huge number of accomplices in the city who made extortion calls on his behalf and kidnapped their targets for a fat ransom.
All these activities were carried out under the guidance of Srivastava,who procured arms and secured fake driving licenses in order to make his work easier.

In the lone case registered against Srivastava in Mumbai,he is accused of conspiring the kidnapping of Vishwanath Mittal,the owner of Mittal Builders. Mittal was abducted by four persons in 1994 from the vicinity of Express Towers in Nariman Point.
After the abduction,Srivastava had allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 4 crore.
The case will be tried in the Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court.
