Citing hike in CNG prices in the city,Mumbai Autorickshawmens Union has revised its fare calculation, suggesting a Rs 2 hike in base fare and Re 1 hike per subsequent kilometre.
According to the union, the base fare should be revised from Rs 15 to Rs 17 and the fare for every subsequent km from Rs 10 to Rs 11.
However,MAU has refrained from announcing a fresh agitation since the Bombay High Court had in August directed it to withdraw its proposed strike. The union now plans to approach the HC to present their new fare calculation before the final hearing on the matter due on September 25.
CNG prices were revised in the city to Rs 38.95per kg this week.
MAUs assistant general secretary Shashank Rao said,After factoring in the latest CNG price and the Consumer Price Index in July, the base fare works out to Rs 17.
The fare is calculated according to the formula recommended by Hakim Committee last year. It factors in fuel price,CPI,insurance and the cost of vehicle. The report also suggested an annual fare revision on May 1. However, following a fare hike late last year,a revision in fares was not done on May 1 this year.
