Police have denied that the assistant sub-inspector was under the influence of alcohol. However, a medical test was conducted, and the reports are awaited. The accused was produced before the court and remanded to police custody till December 26, said a police officer.
The Tardeo police have arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for molesting an 18-year-old specially abled woman on Monday. The accused was caught by local residents while he was misbehaving with the victim after which he was taken to the police station and handed over.

The ASI was attached to Local Arms Division 2 in Tardeo and was reportedly in uniform at the time of the incident.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Monday at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Bhausaheb Hire Garden near the Tardeo RTO. The suspect was sitting with the victim when he allegedly began misbehaving with her. As the woman appeared uncomfortable, people present in the garden noticed and intervened, said officer.
The accused reportedly began arguing with members of the public, following which locals restrained him and informed the police. He was then taken to the police station, where a case was registered under sections 74 (using criminal force with the intent of outraging her modesty) and 75 (2) (misbehaving with the woman) of the BNS.
