Veteran singer Asha Bhosle has filed a written complaint against yesteryear actor Sadhana at the Santacruz police station, accusing the latter of encroaching on a garden at a bungalow in Khar. According to the complaint given by Bhosle to the police a few weeks ago,Sadhana, who is a tenant and has stayed in the bungalow for over 50 years, was allegedly not allowing the singer to use the garden.
The Santacruz police confirmed that they had received Bhosles letter and had initiated an inquiry.
Officers from Santacruz police station said the 68-year-old actress had been staying on the ground floor of the two-storey Sangeeta bungalow owned by the singer. Apart from Sadhana, builder Yusuf Lakdawala stays on the second floor of the bungalow, while actress Baby Naaz lives on the first floor, the police said, adding that all three are Bhosles tenants.
In the complaint,Bhosle has stated that Sadhana is the tenant of the ground floor premises only. Sadhana had wrongly been claiming tenancy in respect of the garden abutting the ground floor premises in the bungalow and restricting free and unhindered access to the garden to Bhosle and her domestic helps, the complaint alleges.
The letter also said Bhosle wanted the police to file an FIR against Sadhana and to take action on her illegitimate claim of tenancy on the garden area. The garden was never let out to her. The same always remained in my possession, Bhosle has stated in the complaint.
Pratap Dighavkar,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) said,We have started investigations in the matter. However,we are yet to record the statements of both Bhosle and Sadhana. Once this is done,we will register a complaint.
Sadhana had in August 2010 lodged a complaint with the Santacruz police accusing Lakdawala of issuing threats to her and trying to force her to vacate the ground floor of the bungalow. The actress had also alleged that Lakdawala wanted to redevelop the property, for which he had allegedly been terrorising her.
Lakdawala was arrested in November 2010 and let off on bail later. He then approached the Bandra Metopolitan Magistrate, claiming that he had been falsely implicated and defamed by Sadhana. He also denied that he had threatened her.
