Maharashtra: Amend law on powers of fire officer to act against illegal eateries, HC tells state

On Friday, the court asked the state to bring out an ordinance or carry out necessary amendments to the two Acts. According to the relevant sections of the Act, if violations regarding trading and storing of goods are found a person can be fined.

Earlier this week, while hearing a case pertaining to an unlicensed restaurant in Kandivali, the BMC had admitted before the high court that the civic body can only impose fines on such eateries or conduct seizures against them.
