The BEST committee elected Friday Sanjay Ambole chairperson. He takes over from Ashok Patil.
The Shiv Sena member received nine votes, including that of BJP,as against five to his Congress-NCP rival. Two MNS members and one of SP stayed away citing prior commitments.
Ambole, corporator from F ward and member of the BMC market committee, said his priority would be to ensure all employees are happy and content.
Only if they are happy will employees be able to provide quality service. For this,it is essential that employees are fit both mentally and physically. Any issue of theirs should be addressed at earliest, he said.
Ambole said he hoped to make BEST travel more passenger friendly. There have been complaints that bus stops are not senior citizen-friendly. There will be discussions on a possible change in bus stop designs, he said.
