Airline employee murder: Two accomplices held

The Nirmal Nagar police on Friday arrested two alleged aides of a gunman who had shot dead a 39-year-old man in Khar east on August 1. While one of them had allegedly attacked the victim with a chopper,the other allegedly played a role in the murder conspiracy.

Police said Vijay Pujari,employed with a private airline,was murdered in a bar located along Golibar Road. Pujari was drinking with his friends Chandra Singh,Lokesh and Kamlesh. Pujari’s rival Rahul Sharma,allegedly barged into the bar armed and with several accomplices.

Sharma allegedly fired a round at Pujari and a bullet got lodged in his chest. He was then assaulted with a chopper on his neck and stomach. His friend Chandra injured his head,nose and left hand. Pujari was rushed to VN Desai Hospital,where he was declared dead.

“We arrested Pramod Jathar (29) and Sai Karne (29). Acting on a tip-off that they would be coming to Jawhar Nagar,a trap was laid. They have been remanded to our custody till August 14,” inspector Anil Desai said.
