Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, 58 IPS officers transferred across state

A week after the CBI filed a closure report in an FIR registered in which he was named one of the accused, DCP Parag Manere, who was in a non-executive posting, was transferred to Thane police as DCP.

In a reshuffle of 58 IPS officers across the state ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Maharashtra government appointed Ravindra Singhal as the Nagpur Police Commissioner while Amitesh Kumar, whom he replaced, was appointed as the Pune Police Commissioner. In Mumbai, Anil Kumbhare was appointed as Joint Commissioner (traffic) and in Thane city Gyaneshwar Chavan was appointed joint commissioner (law & order). In Navi Mumbai ND Yenpure was appointed joint commissioner (law and order).

Ahead of the model code of conduct, as per Election Commission guidelines, officers who have served in the same district for a long time and those who have offences registered against them have to be transferred out.

Shirish Jain, who was the joint commissioner State Intelligence Department (SID), was promoted and appointed SID Commissioner. Pravin Padwal, the former joint commissioner (traffic) was posted as IG (training and special squads) in the DGP’s office. Datta Karale, who was joint commissioner (law & order) Thane, was transferred as special IG (Nashik Range).

M Rajkumar was appointed as Solapur City Police Commissioner, while former commissioner Rajendra Mane was appointed as joint director of Maharashtra Police Training Academy. Pune (rural) SP Ankit Goyal was promoted and transferred to Gadchiroli region. Shahaji Umap, the Nashik (rural) SP was transferred to Mumbai as additional commissioner (Special branch). Umap will be replaced by Vikram Deshmane as SP Nashik (rural) who was Thane (rural) SP. Deshmane was replaced by DCP DS Swamy from Mumbai city as Thane (rural) SP. From Mumbai, DCP’s MSV Reddy and Ajay Kumar Bansal were transferred as SP’s of Jalgaon and Jalna respectively.
