Buoyed by the landslide win in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party took out a rally from Santacruz seeking to continue the euphoria in Mumbai.
Placards saying ” Aab apni Mumbai ko “Aap ” ki Mumbai Banade” set the tone for the parivartan rally which also sought to celebrate the win in Delhi.
People in cars, scooters and cycles distributed pamphlets asking people to call on their anti- corruption helpline number if anyone in the government asked them for a bribe. The party was, however, silent on whether they would contest the Bhihanmumbai Mumbai Corporation elections.
“This is a parivartan rally as everyone in the country wants change. This is also to celebrate the party’s victory in Delhi, ” said AAP leader Mayank Gandhi.
Raju Bhise, co-convenor of the party in Maharashtra said many such events would follow to create awareness amongst the people in the state including carrying out a citizen audit of civic works.
Ashish Khetan was present at the rally with his wife and daughter. “Other parties have to bring political reform or perish,” he said. The rally culminated near Gandhi statue, Juhu beach.
