The Aam Aadmi Party Sunday organised a day-long fast demanding the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from jail.
In Mumbai, party volunteers gathered at Azad Maidan and observed “Upwaas For Kejriwal”.

In its official statement issued on Sunday, AAP stated, “The arrest of Arvind Kejriwal represents a grave violation of his fundamental rights and serves as a direct attack on the democratic fabric of our nation.”

According to AAP, leaders, members and supporters of AAP, along with local residents and professional artists joined them at Azad Maidan demanding the release of Kejriwal, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with Delhi excise policy case.

“Arvind Kejriwal’s illegal arrest has galvanized the people of India. There has been sympathy and support across the spectrum. AAP MP Sanjay Singh’s regular bail by the SC under PMLA has proven that he is innocent and the ED doesn’t have a shred of evidence against him,” said Ruben Mascarenhas, working president of Mumbai AAP.

Claiming that there is a widespread support for Kejriwal,Pius Varghese, general secretary, of Mumbai AAP said that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will bite the dust in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

“The BJP and the Modi government have failed on all fronts. PM and the BJP are absolutely corrupt. The electoral bonds scam has exposed the extortion racket and the quid pro quo run by the BJP,” said Sandeep Katke, vice-president of Mumbai AAP.
