The Thane police Tuesday arrested a 12-year-old boy on charges of murder after he got into a fight with a 15-year-old boy and caused him fatal injuries.

Police said the incident occurred around 6 pm in Sathe Nagar area in Thane.

“The teenager had shaved his head as he had performed shradhh for his father, who had passed away a year ago. To cover his head,he would wear a cap whenever he stepped out of his house. On Tuesday,he was on his way home when the accused, who was playing in the area, saw him, suddenly grabbed the cap off his head in mischief. This led to a fight between them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Balasaheb Patil,Zone V,Thane.

Even after he fell down, the accused kicked him thrice, the police said. Eyewitnesses then alerted his mother and rushed him to the Thane Civil Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Injuries on his private parts led to the death, they added.
