3-yr-old drowns in makeshift water tank

A three-year-old boy died after slipping into a makeshift water tank at an construction site in Kandivali (West) Wednesday. Police said Shivam Yadav was the son of one of the labourers who lived in temporary huts in the same compound.

Police said the mishap took place around 3 pm at the site in Irani Wadi,where a five-ft tank was temporarily dug.

A labourer told police that the boy was playing in the compound when he slipped and fell into the tank. A person from a neighbouring building saw the boy fall and raised an alarm,police said. “Some labourers fished out the boy from the tank,” said senior inspector H Pimple.

The boy was declared dead on arrival at Bhagwati Hospital,police said.
