THE NON-BAILABLE warrant (NBW) against a senior Delhi Police officer for not attending court proceedings as a witness in the 26/11 trial, despite summons, was cancelled by the special court on Wednesday. The officer, Manishi Chandra, who was the ACP (Special Cell), Delhi, in 2012, and had arrested accused Zabiuddin Ansari, appeared before the court on Wednesday. His evidence, however, was deferred till next Monday, since all requisite documents from Delhi were not produced before the court. The court had last week issued a warrant against Chandra.
The court has directed production of documents including the original seizure panchnama, a Pakistani passport, a national identity card issued by the government of Pakistan, a green coloured card which bears Ansari’s photograph and the arrest memo. While the court documents submitted on Wednesday included a photocopy of the seizure panchnama, the court directed the original to be produced.
The court also directed that two of the documents, which are in Urdu, be translated and submitted before the court. Ansari is facing allegations of having coordinated the November 26, 2008 terror attack from a control room in Karachi.
