The Mumbai Police are on the lookout for six persons who allegedly killed a 25-year-old man by “repeatedly stabbing him with swords” late Saturday night. Asif Khan was killed near his home in Wadala around 11.30 pm, said the police.

Khan is believed to have been murdered over a business rivalry. According to the police, Khan was with two of his friends — Sajid (25) and Mary (30) — who were also injured in the attack and are being treated at Sion hospital.

“The unknown persons came looking for Khan at his home late at night. They called out for him, and when his mother and wife responded, they threatened and abused them. They also asked the women to vacate the house. Soon, they saw Khan walking towards the house, and attacked and killed him,” said a police officer. All the accused then fled with their weapons, officers said. Khan was rushed to Sion hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

“The mother and the wife witnessed the murder. They claim to recall the faces of two of the accused. We have got their sketches prepared. There are several eyewitnesses whose statements we are recording and corroborating,” said an officer. Khan acted as a contractor and dealt in getting electricity and water supply in the Wadala area. Sources, however, said much of it was done illegally.
