A loader working at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport suffered a severe leg injury at 3 am on Sunday while loading cargo.
The incident took place at Air Cargo Complex, where Mahendra Singh suffered a tibia fracture when over 200 kg weighing cargo fell on his right leg.
According to a spokesperson for the airport, Singh, aged 44, works for Omega Enterprise and was working for import flight checking when the accident occurred. “Omega works as service provider to Mumbai Cargo Service Centre Private Limited. The loader was immediately attended to by MIAL doctors and shifted to Holy Spirit Hospital, where he was operated successfully. All expenses are being borne by Omega,” said the spokesperson.
A medical officer from the hospital said that Singh underwent a surgery on Sunday. “He suffered a massive right leg injury in which the tibia sustained a fracture. But we hope he will be able to walk.” According to doctors, Singh is stable and did not sustain any other physical injury on his body.
