Borivali Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested two men on Wednesday evening for allegedly causing the death of a 26-year-old man because of negligence. According to GRP,around 2.30pm on Thursday,Mohit Singh (27) and Bhavani Singh (28) were on a train to Borivali and were standing on the foot-board.

At platform no.1 at Borivali, they two stretched out their hands at a train that halted on platform no.2,Parshuram Karyakarte, senior police inspector,Borivali GRP said.

“The two stretched their hands at the train for a high-five and a commuter from the other train put out his hand. By then, the other train,a Borivali local travelling towards Churchgate, picked up speed. The two pulled in their hands suddently pushing another commuter near them,” Karyakarte said. “The man,Maqbool Ansari, was hit by the outstrethed hand of the person on the other train. Ansari lost his balance, fell on the tracks and died as he was run over,” Karyakarte said.

Police said Ansari,a resident of Dharavi, was an AC mechanic and had returned from Saudi Arabia a month ago to settle in Mumbai. A police team reached the compartment, recorded the statement of commuters and arrested Mohit and Bhawani for causing death by negligence and carrying out stunts on a moving train. “Ansari’s family members have been informed,” Karyakarte said.
