2 held for racing Ferrari and Lamborghini on Carter Road

The Khar police arrested two men for rash dri­v­i­­ng on Thursday. The two were allegedly caught racing a La­m­borghini and a Ferrari on Ca­rter Road. The cars were being raced as the streets were em­p­ty on Thursday on account of the Bharat bandh. The loud noise disturbed the resid­e­nts of the area who called up police control room and got the drivers arrested. After an accident on the same stret­ch in 2006 in which a car had mowed down seven pers­o­ns,the residents of Carter Ro­ad area ha­ve been asked to rep­ort bi­ke and car racing if they spot it,police said.

“Residents said the cars had made several ro­unds of the area and were making loud noises,” said Ma­ngesh Pote,senior inspector,Khar police. A police team was sent to the spot and they fo­u­nd the red Ferrari and yellow Lamborghini racing. Police said,when they gestured to the drivers — Moinuddin Ibrahim Motiwala (32) and Rushabh Pradeep Jain (25) — asking them to stop,the duo sped away ignoring poli­ce. The police team then cha­s­ed the cars and intercep­t­ed th­em. The two drivers were taken to the police station,where they were arrested for rash driving and evading the police. “The two has been booked under Secti­on 279 of the Motor Vehicle Act,” Pote said,adding as there was no accident,the accused have been released on bail.
