A 17-year-old girl has complained to the police that two men molested her at a resort in Gorai after spiking her drink. While the incident took place last month, the police said the two men had allegedly threatened to make public nude pictures of the girl had she lodged a complaint. The accused are yet to be arrested.

According to the police, the girl, a resident of Nallasopara, had met one of the accused, Samrat Tambe, at her building on April 23 when they spoke about their respective jobs.

The victim, the police said, had been working as a receptionist with a realty firm and earning Rs 5,000 a month. Tambe allegedly told her that he could arrange a modelling assignment for her to help her earn more money. The police said Tambe told the girl about his friend, “Abbas Patrawala”, who worked as a film director and was in urgent need for a female model for a photo shoot. Tambe allegedly asked the girl to meet him and Patrawala at a resort in Gorai on April 24.

At a room booked for the victim on that day, the police said, Tambe told the girl that she would need to take an injection to increase her body weight before the photo shoot could begin. According to the police, Tambe and Patrawala then offered the victim a drink and administered an injection into her stomach, after which she fell unconscious. In statements that she gave to the police, however, she recollected that Tambe and Patrawala had taken off her clothes.

When she gained consciousness two hours later, the police said, the girl began to scream and demanded that Tambe take her home. The next day, Patrawala allegedly called the victim to tell her that he and Tambe had shot her in the nude on their cellphones and would upload the photographs online if she approached the police. The police said Tambe too made a similar threat on WhatsApp.

The victim, however, finally registered a complaint with the Gorai police station on Tuesday after which Tambe and Patrawala were charged with molestation under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code.

“A case has been registered against the two men. We are yet to make any arrest in the case,” said Kishor Jadhav, Additional Commissioner of Police, North Region.
