The body of a 25-year-old man was found in a park in Phase IV on Sunday afternoon under mysterious circumstances. Police started the inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). The police said they will analyse the post mortem report to know the exact reason of the death.
According to the police, a morning walker first saw the body lying on the steps of a slide installed in the park. A police team immediately reached the spot and took the body to the civil hospital in Phase VI. The officers of Phase I police station said the deceased has been identified as Umesh Kumar, a resident of Balongi. Umesh was working with a private builder in Zirakpur and came to Phase IV to buy some eatables on Saturday evening, but did not return home.
Phase 1 station house officer NPS Lehal said: “We have recorded the statements of the family members of Umesh and they told us that Umesh was suffering from navel imbalance. They told us that Umesh used to walk and exercise a lot to get rid of his disease. Circumstantial evidences suggest that he was exercising on Saturday evening near the slide when he died. Umesh did not have any injury marks on his body. The exact reason of death could be ascertained after the post-mortem report.”
