The Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections scheduled to be held on May 19 are going to be more of a one-sided affair as already 15 Block Samiti members have won unopposed while in every village meeting,CPI and Congress workers are joining the SAD.
This was stated by present Zila Parishad chairman Manpreet Ayali who is also the Dakha MLA. A total of 25 seats are for Zila Parishad polls at the moment. We are sure of grabbing all the 25 seats as we did previously because there is hardly any competition, and we are getting 95% gathering. So we dont have to make much of an effort, he said.
Ayali,in his election campaign,is seen going ga-ga over the first prize won by the Ludhiana Zila Parishad in a competition organised by the Panchayati Raj Department,Government of India,in the last week of April where Ludhiana Zila Parishad got 93 marks out of 100.
This award has come as a plus point before the elections as the UPA government gave it specially for our performance. We will achieve more development in the coming years as well, he said in one of his election speeches. I have every reason to mention this award.
The election campaign is organised in the form of small public meetings in the villages.
