Near elections, the musical chairs of leaders from one party to another is a common scene and so is the claim of political parties and candidates to extend their support.

While two days back former SAD councillors, Sukhdev Singh Mander and Sher Singh Garcha, extended their support to independent candidate Simarjeet Singh Bains after leaving SAD, on Saturday another office bearer of youth Akali dal, Taranjeet Singh Khurana, also extended his support to Bains.

Khurana claimed of joining Bains along with his supporters. The above members were from former Minister Hira Singh Gabria’s group earlier, revealed sources.  While Bains is claiming of enough support from all the disgruntled SAD leaders, the later had also inducted two councillors of Bains group in their party two weeks back.

Apart from this, on Sunday as well, former district Congress president Jagmohan Sharma will be joining SAD.

Interestingly, Sharma was expelled by the party two years back when he decided to contest as an Independent candidate in 2012 for the Vidhan Sabha elections from Ludhiana East.

He had also filed nomination papers and later stopped campaigning after Congress high command pacified him. Sources, however, revealed that he was not taken back by the Congress after this, though he was actively seen on Congress stages a number of times.

However, Sharma will be joining SAD in presence of deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Sunday at a public function.

Meanwhile, MLA from Ludhiana west, Bharat Bhushan Ashu said, “Sharma was expelled long time back, and was never taken back. So it is immaterial for us as whether he is joining SAD or not. In the coming days, a number of leaders from SAD will be joining us.”
