Centre to spend Rs 1 cr on construction; Punjab & Sind Bank to execute project
A Central government-sponsored institute to train youth for self-employment will come up at Ayali Khurd village at a total cost of Rs 1 crore. Land for the purpose has been donated by the village panchayat. Punjab and Sind Bank will execute the project and also bear the rest of the expenditure to train the youth.
Zila Parishad Chairman Manpreet Singh Ayali,Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Pardeep Aggarwal and Executive Director,Punjab and Sind Bank,P K Anand laid the foundation stone of of the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute at Ayali Khurd,Hambran Road,on Thursday.
Addressing the function,Ayali thanked the panchayat for providing land and appreciated the role of the bank in establishing the institute.
Pardeep Aggarwal said the institute would be constructed on an area of 8000 square feet and would also have a hostel. As many as 26 activities have been identified for the training,which will be given free of cost to the youth. He said loan would be provided to these youth to set up their own ventures after the training.
P K Anand said there was already an institute near Clock Tower which had provided training to 581 youth in various activities. He said that 244 trainees became entrepreneurs with the banks assistance or self-finance and 44 got employment.
