Campaging for the elections to the United Cycles Parts and Manufacturers’ Association (UCPMA) is in full swing. The elections are scheduled to be held on September 14 in which Gurmeet Singh Kular, the present president of UCPMA,is re-contesting against Charanjeet Singh Vishvkarma, the previous president of UCPMA.

On Sunday,D S Chawla, another former UCPMA president along with his group, extended support to Kular and his group and he said that he would not be contesting for any post this time.

Chawla had been contesting for the president’s post a number of times but this time he has preferred to stay away. He said Kular must consult seniors to form his new team if he won the elections.

Meanwhile,Manjit Singh Khalsa has extended support to Charanjeet Singh Vishvkarma and his group.

On Sunday, the Wholesale Cycle Parts Manufacturers extended support to the Kular group while the Small Scale Association extended support to the Vishvkarma group.

While both groups are busy in campaigning, yet another group is planning to contest elections.

Both groups are trying hard to woo voters by organising dinner meets and meetings over lunch as well. The members of the association are having a gala time by receiving invites of lunch and dinner from both the groups.

About 1,800 valid voters will be casting their franchise in the elections. About 350 members did not submit their dues in time due to which they are not valid voters,as per information from UCPMA office.

September 9 is the last date for filing nominations while 10 is the date of withdrawal of nomination papers.
