Two minor brothers were hit by an overspeeding car at Jassian cut,near Jalandhar Bypass,on Sunday.
Both brothers Daljit,13,and Harsh,11 were in critical condition and admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). While the driver ran away from the spot,the people managed to note the number of the vehicle.
The victims,who are residents of New Ashok Nagar,were riding a bicycle while their father Rajinder Singh was ahead of them on another bicycle. Reportedly,they were returning from a gurdwara when an overspeeding Indica car hit them.
The Salem Tabri police registered a case under sections 279 (reckless driving),337 (causing injuries),338 (causing grievous injuries) and 427 (damaging property) of the IPC against the unidentified driver of the car.
Salem Tabri Station House Officer Balwinder Singh said the car did not cross the Ladhowal toll tax.
An eyewitness said the collision was so severe that both the children jumped into the air and landed far away with grievous injuries.
