With exams for graduate and post-graduate classes in the full swing,the issue of unfair means crops every now and then. Students have devised novel ways to copy and technology comes handy to achieve the desired result.
Sources said that on Tuesday,two girl students of MA-I (History),who were taking exam at the Government College for Women,were caught red-handed for using cell phone for cheating. The girl students had discreetly put the cell phone in the block of the hair and were taking down the answers using bluetooth. The staff on duty caught hold of them and registered a case under Unfair Means Case (UMC).
Meanwhile,officiating principal of the college Neelam Bhardwaj denied that any such incident had taken place. She said,Two girls were talking while the exam was going on. The invigilator questioned one of the girls and in the process the answer booklet of one of the girls was torn apart. A UMC was registered.
While narrating another incident of cheating,a school teacher said,I caught a student who had kept his cell phone near a bush adjoing the toilet. When he went to the toilet,he stopped there and then went away. I got suspicious and caught hold of him.
Interestingly,another college professor said,Many times,students hide their cell phones under a bandage and keep noting down answers through sms. I have caught such cases during internal exams.
Dr Mukesh Arora,Syndicate member,PU,said,Panjab University has been trying its level best to curb the menace of cheating. Dr R C Sobti,Vice-Chancellor,PU,had already sent message to all the Senate members through controller examination to check cheating and help in smooth conduct of exams.
