Three suicide cases were reported in the city on Saturday including that of a 14-year old girl. Identified as Mahima, the girl committed suicide by hanging herself in Ishar Nagar area. She was a school dropout. Ganesh Kumar, father of the deceased, told that his daughter was fine in the morning.
Around 7.45 am he left home for work. After half-an-hour I was shocked to get a call from our neighbours. He rushed home only to see the lifeless body of his daughter hanging from the ceilling. Officers from the Daba police station have initiated investigation after reaching the spot and the body has been sent to Civil Hospital for post mortem.
In another incident, Sukhmail Singh, 60, committed suicide at his residence on Bhamiyan road. He was a carpenter. Jagjit Singh, son of the deceased claimed that on Saturday morning his father did not open the door and when he peeped in through the window, he saw the body hanging. He added that his father was in depression due to mounting debt.
In a third incident, a shopkeeper Laxmi Dev Verma strangled himself at his rented accommodation in Santokh Nagar of Salem Tabri. He owned a mobile shop in the area. He left a suicide note stating that no one is responsible for the step.
