Special naka: 164 vehicles issued challans for violating traffic rules

A car with blue beacon was stopped and the driver told police that vehicle belongs to PS Ghuman, joint commissioner, Municipal Corporation.

Traffic police and district transport office organised a special naka at Malhar road late on Monday. The vehicle of joint commissioner Ludhiana Municipal Corporation P S Ghuman was issued challan for misuse of blue beacon.

Almost 164 challans were issued for violation of traffic rules. District Transport Officer Anil Garg and ADCP (Traffic) Gurdeep Singh led the drive. Challans were issued for various violations including temporary registration number plates, driving without seat belt, high beam, overloading, without helmet, installing black films, using mobile phone while driving etc.

A car with blue beacon was stopped and the driver told police that vehicle belongs to PS Ghuman, joint commissioner, Municipal Corporation. The officer was not sitting in the car and the challan was issued for misuse of beacon.

Youth Congress leader Sukhwinder Raja was also challaned for black films on glass. A person whose son was standing through the sun roof of his car was also challaned. He said that such acts are illegal, besides the child can also get injured. The team has also challaned son of a cop for driving on a motorcycle without number plate. DTO Garg said that instead of arguing with officials when caught, people should start following the rules. ENS
