Miscreants struck at a mobile shop in Sandhu Nagar late on Friday night. On Saturday morning,owner Sunny Chawla found the locks of his shop broken and mobile phones worth Rs 50,000 and one LCD missing. A case was registered at Jagatpuri police post.
6 girders placed on Lakkar bridge
The railway traffic was suspended on Saturday in two shifts for placing six girders on Lakkar bridge. The work on the bridge has been pending since 1997 and is nowhere near completion. However,station superintendent Ravinder Sharma said that 25% of work was done on Saturday with six iron girders installed. The construction work continued from 12.15 pm to 2.15 pm in the first shift and then the second shift started at 2.30 pm and concluded at 4.15 pm.
NCC Day marked atRGC,DD Jain college
To celebrate NCC Day,the cadets of DD Jain Memorial College for Women visited blind school at Jamalpur on Friday. They presented the schoolchildren with gifts and told them the importance of NCC. The NCC Week was observed by Ramgarhia Girls College which concluded on Saturday. An essay writing competition was organised on the campus to mark this week.
Lecture held on skill development
The department of commerce of Khalsa College for Women (KCW) organised an extension lecture on the topic of Skill Development – A catalyst for change on Saturday. Prof S K Chadha,University Business School,Panjab University,addressed the students and faculty. The lecture was designed to develop generic competence in students that lead to their improvement.

Shanti Tara Girls College,Akbarpur,Mandi Ahmedgarh,organised a seminar on Opportunities for Administrative Jobs. Dr Harjinder Singh Walia,director,IAS Allied Services and Training Centre,Punjabi University,Patiala,was the keynote speaker. Dr Walia emphasised six Ds: dreams,desires,determination,dedication,discipline and direction for success in every field.
