Comedian Jaspal Bhatti’s life could have been saved had he been wearing a seat belt, said Dr Kamaljit Soi, vice-chairman of Punjab State Road Safety Council,Government of Punjab.

“As per information,Jasraj (Bhatti’s son) was tired a lot. We should avoid driving when we are tired. A fatigued mind should not drive,” said Soi. “Even in the past as well,a number of precious lives have been lost in fatal road accidents. All of these could have been saved. I will call these man-made crashes, and not accidents.”

He said passengers need to understand that wearing seatbelts even at the back seat was important and the auto companies also needed to have air bags for the back seats as well.

Fans of Bhatti were in a shock. His movie Power Cut is scheduled to be released on Friday, and he was busy promoting his movie along with the entire star cast.

Sanjay Goel, general secretary of Young Architect Association, said,“Jaspal Bhatti’s death is a great loss to us. Apart from being a great comedian,he was also an excellent engineer. I had an opportunity to meet him recently and was amazed at his great sense of humour.”
