Abiding by Punjab and Haryana High Court Orders, Faridkot deputy commissioner Rajiv Prashar will auction properties of rape accused Nishan Singh and his mother Navjot Kaur conducted on October 29. Two properties have been identified for this purpose.
As per the HC orders on August 31, Rs 90 lakh compensation has to be given to the family of the Faridkot-based rape victim by Nishan Singh and his family. Prashar said, “We have identified the properties. Auction will be conducted on October 29 as per collector rate and the amount generated will be used to compensate the family of rape victim as per the orders of Punjab and Haryana HC.”
Sources in the revenue department said 35 kanal agricultural land had been identified while 12 kanal is within the city. The rape case dates back to 2012, when the victim was 15-years-old and Nishan Singh was 19. Nishan Singh was sentenced to double life imprisonment and his mother and eight accomplices were sentenced to seven years in prison.
