Members of the Iron and steel industry on Thursday gathered and stated that the allegations being raised by the Anti-corruption Morcha regarding the Rs 2,000-crore bogus bill scam were fake. They said that the complainants themselves were tax evaders and were defaming them.
Former minister Satpal Gosain along with a few others had given a complaint to the excise and taxation department regarding Rs 2,000-crore bogus bill scam and the majority of the evaders,as per Gosain, were the iron and steel industrialists. The complaint was given under the banner of the Anti-corruption Morcha.
On Thursday, however, industrialists Varinder Garg,Mahesh Gupta and a few others said that the former minister was levelling wrong allegations and he was shielding the ones who were already evading tax.
Rishi Sharma,an industrialist, said the members of Morcha themselves provide bogus bills to others and later blackmail them in the form of filing complaints.
Goasain, however, said that the evaders need to be punished as per law and he had given a list of the industrialists as well to the department.
Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner Rishipal Singh, when contacted,
said,Both the complaints are with me and I am inquiring into them. I cannot comment on them as of now because we have to study many facts.
