Three days after Rs 15 lakh and a two-wheeler were ‘looted’ from an employee of a pharmacist on Gujjarmal road of Ludhiana, the police Thursday claimed to have solved the case with the arrest of four persons. The police said the employee ‘victim’, Rakesh Soni, who claimed that he was ‘looted’, in fact turned out to be the main accused. He worked for Medi King pharmacy and was going to bank to deposit cash at the time of the ‘incident’.
Police identified the four arrested accused as Soni, Ashu Kataria, Robin and Manik and recovered Rs 6 lakh and the two-wheeler from them.
Meanwhile, Soni’s sister, Nidhi Anand, 35, allegedly committed suicide Thursday and her family alleged that she took the step after the police did not allow her to meet Soni when he was in police custody. However, the police claimed that she took the extreme step over some other issue and that they were investigating the matter. Davinder Anand, husband of the deceased, said that his brother-in-law Rakesh Soni was in police custody since Monday, soon after the incident.
