Being an engineer with the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL),he knows the importance of interpersonal communication. But for him, communicating with self is equally important. That is why Parveen Kumar, who is also a yoga teacher,is always in a fresh mood and keeps anger and stress at bay.
Practicing this ancient form of exercise for the past 19 years,he has taught many others the benefits of yoga.
The District President of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, his day starts at 5.30 am as he takes one hour classes every day. He said,In the mid eighties when I was posted in Shimla,I used to walk nearly 25 km a day because the public transport was not effective. In 1989,I was transferred to Ludhiana but here I never used to get time for sports. A friend told me about yoga classes. Later,I went to Yog Sansthans research centre in Delhi for training and later started teaching yoga in the city. Today,29 classes are organised every day and that too free of cost.
Ask if ever his works suffers because of his personal commitments,Kumar says,My office schedule never suffers because the classes are held in the morning. Rather one feels more energetic. Our team feels happy when someone gets rid of his/her age-old problems after practising yoga. This gives us satisfaction. A resident of Phullanwal near Pakhowal Road,he supervises one class everyday. He said,I guide people if they perform wrong asans. We also organize regular workshops in schools and colleges as well.
