Doctors said that children are the most affected due to their low immunity. Dr Baldeep Singh, director, Deep hospital, said, “Yesterday the weather was very bad. Due to strong winds, the husk is travelling in the air post harvesting. More than 40 children reported to the OPD on Wednesday with cough, cold and chest congestion. Among them five to six patients are stated to be serious. Respiratory disorders are also common in this season.”
Dr Anil Kapur, a private practitioner based in Sunder Nagar said, “Patients are complaining of fever accompanied with cough and cold. We are also expecting asthmatic patients soon as farmers are yet to burn their fields.”

Dr Ravinder Vatsyayan, an Aurvedacharaya said, “During this time, days are very hot and nights are cool. Owing to this temperature difference people are complaining of cough and cold followed by fever. As the rains prolonged, moisture is still in the atmosphere.”
Doctors, however, advised patients to keep their surroundings clean as this is the breeding season of mosquito. Dengue cases may rise in the coming months. Doctors advised to keep the area clean and even not to allow stagnant water to stand in and around.
