Gurpreet had gone from his home on Monday morning to attend a rally at the DC office, but he never reached there. When the family started searching for him, they found him at Rara Sahib Gurdwara.

Pirmal Singh, president of the union, said,“The state government is responsible for his condition because the government is dilly-dallying on the promises made by them, and the members are feeling harassed.”

He added,“Government had advertised posts of 5,000 linemen on a contract basis but they recruited only 1,000. The rest who had cleared interview and counselling had never been recruited. We had a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal this month, but even his response was not very encouraging. Our members are feeling harassed. We demand compensation for Sarabjeet’s family as well and a job for his family because the state government was responsible for it and now Gurpreet is going to be the second victim.”

Manjeet Singh, younger brother of Gurpreet, said he was surprised to see his brother’s condition overnight. “He was frustrated over not getting a job,” he added.
