Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has blamed the UPA government for mishandling the economy during the slowdown resulting in the loss of 5 lakh jobs during the last two months.
Badal stated this while addressing the workers of SAD (B) and BJP at different rallies in Khanna to garner support for Charanjit Singh Atwal,the party candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib (R) constituency.
Badal said the candidate from Bathinda would be announced by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in the coming days.
Addressing various industrial associations at the residence of SAD leader Gurpret Singh Bhatti,Badal wondered what kind of economists were running the government who could not foresee the crash of the stock market resulting in a loss of crores of rupees. He also held the short-term economic policies of UPA responsible for the mass retrenchment of 5 lakh employees during the last two months.

Badal added that Dr Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi owe an explanation to the people for the alleged missing Rs 50,000 crore from the exchequer,as submitted by CAG in their affidavit to the Supreme Court.
The deputy CM also addressed a rally at the residence of MC president Iqbal Singh where Singh promised to develop the sewerage and water supply system of Khanna.
Badal also met BJP leaders and workers at the residence of councillor Jatinder Devgan where all party workers assured him that the party will work unitedly to ensure the win of Atwal.
Other rallies were addressed at the residence of Akali councillor Lakhbir Singh Kalamajra,Davinder Khattras office and residence of Youth Akali leader Jatinder Singh.
Various industrialists and trader associations presented their demands to the SAD president.
The rally at Bhattis house was attended by many Congress leaders including former MC vice-president Sanjay Ghai,Youth Congress leader advocate Munish Khanna,Sudarshan Puppy,Gurdial Singh Dayali and CPI leader Paramjit Singh.
Among others present were the SAD-BJP candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha constituency Charanjit Singh Atwal,MLA Didar Singh Bhatti,Bikramjit Singh Khalsa,BJP district president Pawan Tinku and SAD (B) district president Santa Singh Umaidpuri.
