People should play proactive role in eradicating social maladies: CM

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Sunday called upon people to play a proactive role in weeding out social maladies like female foeticide,dowry and drug addiction from society.

Addressing a function to mark the 38th anniversary of Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji Rare Wale,the Chief Minister expressed deep concern over the deteriorating moral values,and said the need of the hour was that people must take inspiration from the religious and social leaders to uproot these evils.

Badal said that the spiritual leaders across the state could also play a leading role in curbing the menace of drugs besides other social maladies in the state.

Paying tribute to Sant Baba Isher Singh,the Chief Minister said that he also played a key role in spreading education in the backward regions of the state by opening a number of schools and colleges.
