PAU VC fixes hostel entry times

The Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University,B S Dhillon has asked the concerned authorities to ensure that the timings fixed for entry into hostels are followed strictly.

The Vice-Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University,B S Dhillon has asked the concerned authorities to ensure that the timings fixed for entry into hostels are followed strictly.

The V-C has also ordered that entry time for the undergraduate girl students should be advanced by half an hour to 7 pm. At the same time while the boys hostels do not maintain any kind of entry timing, the VC has ordered that from now on they must adhere to the 9.30 pm deadline.

The students are yet to get accustomed to the changed timings and plan to meet the VC on this issue seeking a relaxation. Dhillon said,“We have whole lot of batches who have come to the university right after clearing matriculation. These girls are still below 18 years of age and it is our duty to see that they are protected. The timing for post graduate girls is more lenient for these students are old enough to take care of themselves. We had received reports of boys making rounds of girl hostels and at times causing problems. So to check the indiscipline we needed to bring some kind of order.”

Similarly while boys hostels had timings,no one was adhering to them. Thus I have asked the wardens to ensure that the rules are followed. We are not going to throw a student out of the University for coming late by ten minutes or so. But yes some kind of system needs to be followed.”

When asked that vehicle numbers of some of the boys were being noted down by the security staff on orders of the VC,Dhillon said,“I found all these vehicles parked on the road even though we have so many underground parking lots. These vehicles had been parked wrongly and so I asked the security staff to note down the registration numbers and take action accordingly.”
