PAU Employees’ Union chief on fast unto death,seeks salaries on time

PAU Non-Teaching Employees’ Union president Harbans Singh Mundi began his fast-unto-death after holding a massive rally outside Thapar Hall on Monday.

PAU Non-Teaching Employees’ Union president Harbans Singh Mundi began his fast-unto-death after holding a massive rally outside Thapar Hall on Monday. He announced that his fast would continue till the administration assured them that salaries would be credited to the accounts of the employees on the 1st of every month. He also demanded the release of arrears of revised pay scales and grant of dearness allowance with effect from January 1,2011,as admissible to Punjab government employees.

Addressing the rally,union general secretary Avinash Kumar Sharma highlighted the “negative attitude of Davinder Kaushal,superintendent working in the office of Director of Agriculture (Punjab),Extension & Training Branch”. He alleged that Kaushal had delayed the documents for grant of release to the PAU employees for more than one month and condemned his “behaviour towards the visiting employees of PAU”. A resolution was passed,demanding necessary action against him.

The rally was also addressed by the representatives from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University,Punjab Agricultural University Teachers’ Association and Class IV Workers’ Union. Leaders from the Punjab State Employees Union are likely to join the protest in the near future.

Other PAU Non-Teaching Employees’ Union members present on the occasion were Charanjit Singh Sekhon,Lakhwinder Singh Sandhu,Sarabjit Singh,Jasbir Singh,Mandeep Pal Singh Sekhon,Ashwani Nauriyal,Pareveen Banda,Mehal Singh Sidhu and Lal Bahadur Yadav.
