Pashu Palan Mela ends,pitches for diversification

The Pashu Palan Mela of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University,Ludhiana,concluded on Thursday with a message to develop livestock farming as an impressive and effective option of diversification.

The Pashu Palan Mela of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU),Ludhiana,concluded on Thursday with a message to develop livestock farming as an impressive and effective option of diversification.

The mela attracted a huge gathering with an aim to develop livestock profession on modern terms. On the last day,the judgement committee adjudged all the stalls and declared Lutim Pharma Limited,first,Pfizer Animal Health India Limited,second and Intas Pharma Limited third.

GADVASU V-C Dr V K Taneja said while the varsity was contributing to the field of education and research,it was also promoting livestock profession with its extension activities. To develop livestock professions,the university was extending its services,support,know how & training to every economic category.

Dr Ranjodhan Singh Sahota,director of Extension Education,said some of the departments were providing services for rearing livestock whereas others were in the field of value addition of livestock products. He said the department of animal nutrition had developed a number of nutritional technologies for the dairy animals of the state,which

were displayed in the Pashu Palan Mela.
