It was on October 23 that the district Health department collected 14 samples of sweets from different shops in the city; but the report has not been made public yet.
According to Dr Jagpal Singh,District Health Officer,Ludhiana: We have been continuously collecting samples from different sweet shops of the district,except for two-three days when we were deputed on VIP duty. Although we keep conducting routine checks,but this particular campaign will continue till Diwali.
When asked about the reports of collected samples,he said: The report of these samples goes to the Chief Medical Officer,so,only she can tell.
But Dr Satwant Kaur Bhalla,Chief Medical Officer,Ludhiana,said: We are yet to receive the report of these samples. Tomorrow is Monday and we may get the report tomorrow.
Sources say the report of the samples can also be collected from the laboratory over telephone,as it comes after 24 hours. About this,the CMO said: It is true that the report can be collected on phone. But in case of a negative report,we cannot take action on a telephonic conversation. We immediately ask for the report in case of seizures,as any seized sweet cannot be kept for more than 24 hours.
