There was a heated exchange between Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu and SHO (division number 5) Nirmal Singh outside Silver Ark Mall where the policeman was on duty regarding actor Salman Khans visit.
The MLA had gone to confront the SHO regarding a firing incident on Wednesday night involving one of his supporters,Vipin Sood and boys from PAU. What ensued was a shouting match with the MLA accusing the police officer of not listening to Soods version of events. An angry SHO Nirmal Singh retorted: Dont dare raise a finger at my uniform. I am busy at the moment.
Ashu also warned that his supporters would protest on the issue as he questioned the polices functioning and the SHO in particular while speaking in public.
The exchange continued about 10 minutes before ADCP Gurpreet Kaur Purewal stepped in and asked Ashu to give the police some time to perform their duty and assured him that he will be heard.
Ashu categorically stated that SHO was a biased officer and was not listening to elected representatives: I hope you (SHO) remember when you were attacked by PAU students and even they had injured you. At that time you had lodged 307 IPC FIR on them and now acting biased.
His anger stemmed from the firing incident as he claims his supported Sood shot in self-defence as some miscreants had attacked Soods house where his daughters wedding is to be performed.
Reports said that a few youth from PAU had visited Soods house and even allegedly attacked the security guard. Sood opened fire from his house as per his version to make the boys run away and later got two of them arrested. One,however, sustained injuries after allegedly being hit by Soods car. PAU boys had staged dharna demanding action against Sood till the time of filing this report, but no FIR had been registered.
