Miscreants shoot at shopkeeper outside his house, loot Rs 20,000

The shopkeeper was rushed to a private hospital, his condition is stable now.

Two miscreants looted Rs 20,000 from a person after shooting at him twice here late on Sunday. They shot him twice in the thigh and hip joint in New Subhash Nagar area outside his house and snatched his bag containing Rs 20,000.

The shopkeeper was rushed to a private hospital from where he was referred to CMCH. Basti Jodhewal police reached the spot and initiated investigation. They recovered two shells of .32 bore bullets. The victim, Harmeet Singh owns a departmental store in New Subhash Nagar area, near his house.

Police said, Harmeet Singh was going home after closing the store. As he reached near the house, two miscreants tried to snatch bag from his hand. Harmeet tried to resist following which the miscreants shot him twice.

Police suspect that the accused were chasing Harmeet and were aware of the cash in his bag. Sub-Inspector Kamal Dutt, additional SHO at police station Basti Jodhewal said they will get the CCTV footage from the nearby areas soon. He added that condition of the victim is stable.
