Minnows Ropar shock Chandigarh

In a tremendous fight back,Ropar scored 332 runs in reply to Chandigarh's total of 323 and earned two points on first innings in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District Under-16 Cricket Tournament for ML Markan Trophy during a match held at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh on Friday.

In a tremendous fight back,Ropar scored 332 runs in reply to Chandigarh’s total of 323 and earned two points on first innings in the ongoing Punjab Inter-District Under-16 Cricket Tournament for ML Markan Trophy during a match held at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh on Friday.

In reply to Chandigarh’s daunting total of 323 runs,Ropar team put up a brave effort and scored 332 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 95 overs. Piyush Chopra (78) and Jaipreet (76) were the main contributors for Ropar. Lavleesh also did well to score 53 runs.

Mohali snubs Jalandhar
Displaying incredible performance against Jalandhar,Mohali earned two points on the first innings lead in a match held at PCA Stadium in Mohali. In reply to Mohali’s total of 354,Jalandhar were bundled out for 277 runs in 78 overs. Bhupinder Singh emerged as top-scorer making 97 runs for Jalandhar. Mohali’s Maneesh Srivastav ran through the Jalandhar batting line-up scalping five wickets. Batting in the second innings,Mohali scored 144 runs for the loss of one wicket.

Ludhiana outshines Amritsar
Despite brilliant batting performances by Amritsar’s Rohan Marwaha (179) and Shiv Luv (51) Ludhiana defeated Amritsar by virtue of first innings lead of 30 runs in a match played at MGM Public School,Dugri. In reply to Ludhiana’s first innings total of 401 runs for the loss of nine wickets,visitors piled up 371 runs in 79.4 overs. For Ludhiana,Sandeep Singh picked up five wickets,while Gaurav Sharma took four wickets giving away 90 runs.

In their second innings,Ludhiana were 41 for 2 were the captains agreed to end the day’s play. Ludhiana will now take on Minor Districts Zone B,Ropar on April 26 and 27 in Ludhiana.

Patiala thrashes Muktasar
Playing to its potential,Patiala outplayed Muktasar to earn two points on the basis of first innings lead in a match held in Patiala on Friday. Patiala amassed 365 runs in the first innings. In reply to its total,Muktasar were bundled out for paltry 145 runs in 71 overs. Patiala forced follow-on on the opposition and did not bat in the second innings.
