While the non-Congress-ruled states like Gujarat,Madhya Pradesh and even Tamil Nadu are regularly sending proposals for cluster development of industrial units, not even a single proposal is coming from the SAD-BJP-led government of Punjab. Co-ordination between the state government and the Centre is a must for holistic growth of the industry.
This was stated by K H Muniyappa,Minister of State for Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME),on his visit to the city on Tuesday. He blamed the state for the slow growth of industry.
While Tamil Nadu had sent 12 proposals for cluster in the past one year,Gujarat had sent seven and MP had sent five. But none came from Punjab which shows the lack of interest of government in industry. We have to route funds through state governments and hence the respective states need to be pro-active in order to get benefit of the maximum schemes of MSME, said the minister. Let the state government submit a plan for cluster development and we will clear the project in a month. Later,he interacted with the industrialists.
