The three robbers snatched Pawan Vermas car at gun-point late on Wednesday night but what they hadnt bargained for was that the manager of Nahar Spinning Mill, near Grewal petrol pump on Chandigarh road, had a trick up his sleeve: his car was equipped with a GPS system.
With the help of the system, police tracked the car within hours and located it at Chakohi village. The determined robbers, however, were not going to let go without a fight. According to Inspector Sumit Sood,a gun-battle ensued for 30 minutes when a police team confronted the three robbers in the village. While they fled, police recovered the vehicle. A hunt is now on to nab them.
The incident had occurred on Wednesday. Police said that Verma was taking a U-turn near a petrol pump when a Safari cut into his path and blocked his way. The three men then allegedly pointed a gun at the mill manager, threw him out before driving off with his vehicle.
