Just a day after a letter was released to the media wherein SAD(Amritsar) president,Simranjeet Singh Mann, had alleged a scam in Chandoa offerings at the Golden Temple, another allegation was thrown at Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) head Avtar Singh Makkar by Mann on Wednesday.

The SAD(A) head has now alleged that SGPC paid Rs 3 crores to get encroached land vacated from one Dilsher Singh in Payal, which Mann said was is illegal and he will challenge the transaction in court.

The possession of the land was taken more than six months back, but SAD(A) has raised allegations only now.

The SGPC had got 116 acres of land vacated from Payal area, which was allegedly encroached by farmers for the past several years.

About 12 acres of land was not being vacated by one Dilsher Singh but that was vacated after SGPC decided to pay him Rs 3 crore.

Mann said: “What was the need of paying Rs 3 crores to get encroached land vacated? I will challenge this in court. It is a waste of money.”

Meanwhile,SGPC head Avtar Singh Makkar said: “Let Mann do whatever he can. We have followed all norms in getting land vacated and rather than appreciating SGPC,he is raising allegations. I have got more than 500 acres land vacated from different parts of Punjab. In Payal we got vaacated 116 acres of land and out of this 12 acres was left with one Dilsher Singh. The market value of that land is Rs 7 crore and our executive committee decided to pay Rs 3 crore to Singh so that we can get our land back. There is nothing wrong in this decision and if Mann wants to challenge it,let him do so.”

Makkar stated that SGPC is doing farming as of now on this land and plans to open agriculture college on this land. He said,” hundreds of acres is lying encroached in Gurdaspur too,Mann must go and get it vacated,if he is so concerned.”
