Alleging highhandedness on part of the Punjab government and a former minister,a woman judge in Ludhiana has written to the Punjab and Haryana High Court accusing the former minister,Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal,of using his political clout to get her husband transferred out of Ludhiana.

Lukhwinder Kaur,Additional Civil Judge (senior division),Ludhiana, has written a letter alleging that the transfer of her husband, who is Sub Divisional Officer,Lining,Ludhiana, has been done only with the intention to put pressure on her since she had summoned the former minister and the co-accused involved in a criminal case pending since May 2,1998.

Lukhwinder Kaur has alleged that since she had summoned the former minister,he managed to get her husband transferred. She has also submitted that though in normal case of transfers, the Principal Secretary signs the transfer orders but in the case of her husband, the transfer has been ordered after seeking approval of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Demanding cancellation of transfer orders of her husband, the Judge has written that as per the state transfer policy an employee is transferred only after three years but in the present case her husband had served in Lining for only seven months.

Lukhwinder said she was transferred from Nakodar to Ludhiana on medical grounds on her representation since she does not have a child and her treatment is undergoing at an infertility centre in the city for the past four years. “The presence of my husband is very essential for the treatment,” reads the letter.
